| The study of preposition systems of Chinese and Vietnamese has always been an important topic in the practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Despite the similarity of Chinese and Vietnamese grammar, the two languages are significantly different in the course of preposition.Based on the realistic need of the foreign language teaching towards Vietnamese students, this dissertation presents the analysis of the Chinese prepositions‘在’,‘从’and‘往’and their Vietnamese varieties, discussing their similarities and differences in syntactic and semantic functions.Besides, this article also pays attention to the mistakes made by the native Vietnamese speakers who study Chinese in their process of utilizing Chinese prepositions;the factors that lie behind these phenomena are also analyzed through the categorical descriptions of the grammatical faults,on the basis of which the useful advice and tactics in Chinese teaching are put forward. The dissertation consists of six chapters:Chapter Ⅰ is introductory.Previous studies on the issue of preposition system of both Vietnamese and Chinese are concluded in this chapter,as well as the studies relevant with the teaching of Chinese prepositions towards foreigners and the aims of the dissertation.Chapter Ⅱ,Chapter Ⅲ and Chapter Ⅳ gives the analysis of the prepositions‘在’,‘从’and‘往’and their partially equivalent prepositions in Vietnamese, respectively. It can be found in these chapters that the linguistic situation between these languages is complicated due to the discrepant usage of Chinese and Vietnamese preposition phrases brought by syntactic differences, and also due to the fact that the prepositions in Chinses mentioned above have much wider contexts than those in Vietnamese. In these chapters, moreover,‘在’will be addressed with substantial details, for the reason that it corresponds with a large number of Vietnamese pronouns and thus has an intriguing relationship with them.Chapter Ⅴ deals with the realistic pedagogical problems in the last three chapters. The types of mistakes of spatial prepositions are discussed firstly, and then the reasons why they are formed.Relevant advice for teaching is given at last.Chapter Ⅵ concludes the achievements discussed in the preceding chapters, the deficiencies of which are also addressed. |
