Additive Shifts In Simultaneous Interpreting:A Practice ——A Practice Report On Renault Brilliance Jinbei Supplier Convention

In the Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation,because of the huge differences in the form and expression habits between two languages,the interpreter often makes some additive shifts from the ST in order to make the TT more natural and understandable in terms of its own language habits.Although these additive shifts are derived from the subjective judgment of the interpreter,they are intended to make sure that the TT is consistent with the ST in meaning and complete at informational level.Based on my own interpretation corpus,in this report,I conducted the analysis on the additive shifts and discussed its positive significance for the interpretation norms.This report draws on the predecessor’s descriptive research classifications of additive shifts,which are cohesive additive shifts,shifts on explication of covert contents and informational additive shifts.Through analysis,it is found that the TT produced by the interpreter following the above norms is more in compliance with the interpretation norms and obtained better communicative effect.
