| Christopher Hill,one of the most representative historians of the British new historical school of Marxism,devoted his whole life to the study of the British history in the Seventeen Century.Especially being well-known for his research on the British history of the bottom.I attempt to conduct a more profound and systematic research of Hill’s historical perspective of bottom that based on the historical materialism and Hill’s primary work-The World Turned Upside Down,which concludes his historical perspective of bottom.Demonstrating the philosophical structure explaining the core ideas of his historical perspective of bottom,meanwhile,pointing out the significance and shortcomings of Hill’s historical perspective of bottom,as well as the historical method and philosophy of this great historian.This essay is divided into three parts:The first chapter mainly discusses the basic elements of the formation of the core ideas of Hill’s historical perspective of bottom,including the origin of the thoughts and historical methodology of Hill’s historical perspective of bottom.The formation of his historical perspective of bottom is mainly influenced by historical materialism and the historical tradition of British empiricism;Hill’s historical methodology mainly follows the Marxist class analysis and the disciplinary cooperative method that pursues breakthroughs.The second chapter mainly discusses the primary contents in Hill’s historical perspective of bottom。It is carried out from two aspects of Hill’s subject of historical development and the power of the development.It is pointed out that the subject of the development of British history is the mass who are at the bottom of society;while social contradictions,radical ideas and social revolutions are important forces in historical development.The third chapter mainly makes a comprehensive evaluation of Hill’s historical perspective of bottom.On the one hand,it includes the positive significance of his academic achievements,which is manifested in the supplementary development to Marx and Engels’ historical thoughts,and demonstrating the status of the subject of the bottom of public.On the other hand,there are some critical comments to his research achievements and I have made some brief comments based on Hill’s own response for those critical words.Finally,I would give a brief conclusion on Hill’s historical perspective of bottom which points out the realistic cares of Hill’s historical research and Hill’s expectations to contemporary Marxists and the proletariat. |
