A Report On E-c Translation Of Asset Purchase Agreement

With the deepening of the opening up,China’s economy has shown a sustained,stable and healthy way of development.Due to the improvement of China’s international status,a growing number of overseas companies come to China to seek cooperation.As a result,there‘s increasing demand for the translation of contracts,which offers more opportunities for the translators.Asset purchase agreement is a kind of contract text,so it also has its basic characteristics: professional words,accurate meaning and rigorous structures and because of the difficulty of this kind of texts,it is necessary for translators to have professional competence and skills.Therefore,it is of great significance to research and study the translation difficulties and strategies of contract texts.In this report,the author has taken the E-C Translation of Asset Purchase Agreement between OASYS INC.And CAMCE WATER AMERICAN LLC as an example and has analyzed the characteristics of English contracts,especially from lexical and syntactical perspective.Through the analysis and study of specific examples,the author has illustrated the difficulties encountered in translation,such as coordinating synonyms,passive voice sentences and long and difficult sentences.Meanwhile,to deal with the difficulties,the author has summarized strategies like literal translation,omission,linear translation and inversion,division and reconstruction under the guidance of Skopos Theory.There still exist some disadvantages,but the author hopes that this report can provide some references for the translation of contract texts.
