| Nowadays,the trend of educational informationzation puts forward higher requirements for innovation of learning styles and models of instruction.The Flipped Classroom model of instruction,which sprang up in America,is guided by theory of Constructivism and supported by modern information and technology.It breaks the traditional teaching order and makes the high integration of online learning and traditional classroom learning come true through the reversal arrangement of pre-class knowledge transmission and classroom knowledge absorption and internalization.This model overcomes the shortages of traditional teaching to some extent and conforms to the educational informationzation’ requirement for innovating the teaching models.In recent years,the majority of domestic studies of Flipped Classroom mainly focus on the exploration of nature of the flipping process,the construction of teaching models and some application studies.There are a few studies of Flipped Classroom on College English teaching especially on College English listening and speaking teaching.As the two significant components of “four skills”,listening and speaking take up a large proportion in foreign language learning and teaching.The College English Teaching Requirements highlights the cultivation of students’ listening and speaking ability and it clearly points out that “College and universities should take fully advantages of modern information and technology to improve the single English teaching model centered on teacher.With the support of modern information and network technology,English teaching should be free from the constraint of time and space to a certain extent,so as to realize individualized learning and autonomous learning”.The current model of “teacher’s lecture through multimedia and students’ autonomous learning from the learning platform” in College English Listening and Speaking course has its own superiority to some extent,while it is hard to realize the knowledge absorption and internalization due to the limited class time;there is also scare interaction among teacher and students and little timely guidance in the process of autonomous learning.So,this study attempts to apply the Flipped Classroom Model of instruction to College English Listening and Speaking course,aiming to optimize learning styles and teaching models,to improve students’ listening and speaking proficiency and further to realize the educational idea of “students-centered”.This study is based on the theories of Constructivism and Blended Learning.The author adopts the Flipped Classroom Model of Zhang Jinlei’s and the subjects are non-English major undergraduates and the teaching experiment lasts twelve weeks.During the teaching experiment,the experimental class adopts Flipped Classroom Model ofinstruction and control class adopts the model of “teacher’s lecture through multimedia and students’ autonomous learning from the learning platform”.With the help of research instruments of test,questionnaire,interview and SPSS software,the study shows that the application of the Flipped Classroom Model of instruction to College English Listening and Speaking course helps to improve students’ English listening and speaking proficiency,learning interest and it is also helpful for the cultivation of autonomous learning.Most of the students in experimental class give positive feedback on the Flipped Classroom Model of instruction.They also behave a high degree of participation and give good assessments on the Flipped Classroom Model of instruction applied in College English Listening and speaking course,they also express their willingness to continue to receive the Flipped Classroom Model of instruction in future learning.Implications: 1.The main reason for teachers and students’ accepting of the Flipped Classroom Model of instruction is the idea of “learning first and teaching then”;2.The Flipped Classroom Model of instruction is helpful for deepening and widening the accesses of educational informationization and enriching the theories of Constructivism and Blended Learning.It is also helpful for further clarifying the role of teachers and giving full play to the role of teachers;3.It should be noted that the face-to-face instruction can not be neglected in the process of “flipping”,and teachers should deliberate what and how to flip. |
