| Reading teaching has played an important role in English classes,while up to now a great majority of junior middle schools still adopt traditional reading teaching models characterized by poor reading habits,low participation rate,and unsatisfactory teaching effects,which can hardly meet the demands of the new curriculum reform.The Guided Learning Plan is designed to guide the students to learn independently so as to develop their English reading level effectively in the mass,improve teaching effects and optimize the current English reading teaching in junior middle schools with the students as its core.Taking the above problems into consideration,this thesis applies the Guided Learning Plan to English reading teaching in a junior middle school,with a view to stimulate students’ interests in English reading and better their reading habits in the hope of improving their reading performance and achieving reading teaching objectives.Under the guidance of the Zone of Proximal Development and Humanism Theory,this thesis selects 100 students(among which 52 are from a control class and 48 are from an experimental class)of a junior middle school in Xiangtan and applies the Guided Learning Plan to their English reading teachings with the research methods as questionnaire survey,testing and case study,so as to focus on the following two questions.First,what effect will the application of Guided Learning Plan in junior high school English reading teaching will have on students’ interest in reading and their reading habits? Second,what effect will have on the students’ abilities of autonomous learning and comprehensive use of English language knowledge?First of all,this thesis overviews the concept of the Guided Learning Plan with the aid of the relevant documents both at home and abroad.On this basis,the study designs the specific implementation steps of the Guided Learning Plan and applies it to the whole reading teaching class in a junior middle school so as to better the quality and effects of teaching as well as improve the reading ability of the students.Secondly,it conducts a 12-week teaching experiment before which data of the English proficiency of two classes are obtained through a testing and a questionnaire survey with the reference of the above design.As for this teaching experiment,the experimental class adopts the Guided Learning Plan,while the control class continues to follow the traditional reading teaching model.Meanwhile,another questionnaire survey and testing for the experimental class are carried out.Lastly,this study collects and analyzes the data obtained from questionnaires and testing that are mentioned above.Results show that the application of the Guided Learning Plan to English reading teaching of junior middle schools has greatly changed the students’ learning styles,trained a good reading habit,and stimulated their reading interest.The students have learned how to preview,how to explore by cooperation,how to summarize and how to expand the reading materials effectively,thus their participation in the class has been improved.Therefore,under the guidance of the Zone of Proximal Development and Humanism Theory,the application of the Guided Learning Plan to English reading teaching in junior middle school is applicable and feasible,which is conducive to the quality and results of teaching in reading classes. |
