This paper conducts an empirical study on the application of Multimodal Teaching Mode in English listening teaching in junior school.By the application of Multimodal Teaching Mode in junior English class,the author explores whether the Multimodal Teaching Mode can improve junior school students’ English listening comprehension.The focal point of English teaching is to cultivate students’ listening,speaking,reading,and writing skills.As the first basic English skill,listening is the initial cogitative segment of English language learning.Listening is a breakthrough to conquer the English castle.In the listening process,enough and efficient English input can lay a good foundation for students’ English learning.According to the theory of second language acquisition,the key factor that influenced the students English learning is enough and effective language input.In brief,English learning is the process in which English information is continuously input to the learner’s brain and processed by them.At the junior school stage,listening is not only a requirement for English testing,but also a reflection of students’ comprehensive English ability.So the impact of Multimodal teaching mode of the English listening class of junior school students has become the key point of this article.In recent years,the modern education technology has developed rapidly,and a new teaching model based on the theory of Multimodal discourse analysis has emerged at the historic moment,that is,the Multimodal Teaching Mode.Human beings perceive the world through five senses: vision,hearing,touch,smell and taste.The mode is the interaction between various senses and the external environment.The main content of this paper is to verity whether the Multimodal teaching mode can stimulate learners to mobilize a variety of senses to work together so that students can receive effective English information input and improve junior school students’ English listening level.As a new teaching model,the most important feature of Multimodal Teaching Mode is that it can integrate multiple modalities and mobilize multiple teaching resources to change English learning from dull to flexible,and to make students change from passive recipients to active learning participants.In order to explore the junior students’ listening proficiency under the Multimodal Teaching Mode,the author designed the following three research questions:1.What is the impact of Multimodal teaching mode on junior students’ English listening proficiency?2.How can the Multimodal Teaching Mode be applied reasonably to reduce the junior students’ listening barriers?3.Compared with the traditional teaching method,what are the advantages of Multimodal teaching mode in junior English listening teaching?The author carried out an experimental study of Multimodal English teaching in a junior school in Linzhou,Anyang,Henan province.The research object was 60 students from two parallel classes of the Grade Seven.In the process of the experiment,pre-test,post-test and questionnaire survey were adopted to analyze the impact of Multimodal teaching mode on junior school English listening teaching.Sixty students were selected from the experimental class and the control class respectively,both classes have thirty students participating in the experiment.Before the experiment,there was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class.After the experiment,the author collected the data and analyzed it with SPSS 20.0.The experimental results show that in the one-semester teaching experiment,the Multimoda teaching mode can stimulate the interest of junior school students in English listening,it can also help students to reduce the listening obstacles.In addition,the analysis of experimental data shows that multimodal teaching mode has a positive impact on middle school students’ English listening ability.Of course,this study still has certain limitations,such as the narrow scope of the experiment,too few subjects,and insufficient time.However,the experimental results show that the Multimodal teaching has indeed achieved the expected results,and prove that the application of the Multimodal teaching mode to the junior school English listening teaching has played a positive role.This paper can be divided into six parts: Chapter One introduces the Multimodal English listening teaching research background,purpose,situation,significance and methods.Chapter Two is a literature review,which describes the application of Multimodal theory and Multimodal teaching mode at home and abroad.Chapter Three summarizes the theoretical basis,related concepts and Multimodal teaching mode.Chapter Four elaborates on the research procedures in detail.Chapter five analysis and discusses the experimental data.Chapter Six draws the conclusion.
