| Vocabulary learning is the key to language learning,and vocabulary teaching is also the mainstay in English teaching.Only by laying a solid foundation of vocabulary can students’ English comprehensive ability be improved steadily.Nowadays,students’ learning ability and cognitive ability have also improved.The traditional English vocabulary teaching mode has been unable to meet the students’ learning needs.Teachers have been trying to combine the multimedia information technology with vocabulary teaching,and multimodal vocabulary teaching mode has attracted more and more attention.At the end of the 21 st century,multimodal theory has been concerned by scholars in western countries and applied to the field of teaching.The multimodal teaching mode is different from the boring traditional teaching mode.It stimulates the students’ senses to carry on the teaching,arouses the class atmosphere,improves the students’ learning enthusiasm and improves the efficiency of vocabulary teaching.Therefore,it is significant to explore the application of multimodal teaching mode in English vocabulary teaching.Based on multimodal theory,the researcher analyzes the application of multimodal teaching mode in junior high school English vocabulary teaching.This study mainly solves the following two problems:1.To what extent is multimodal teaching effective in the teaching of English vocabulary in junior high schools?2.How do teachers and students respond to the application of multimodal teaching mode in English vocabulary teaching to junior high school students?The researcher selects two classes of Grade 8 as the research subjects,one is the experimental class,and the other is the control class.There are 40 students in all.The teaching practice is conducted in Anna’s English Cram School in Yuncheng City,Shanxi Province.The researcher studies by questionnaire,pre-test,post-test,interview with teachers before the experiment and interview with students after the experiment.The findings are as follows: 1.At present,most of the school teachers use the traditional teaching method to teach English vocabulary the class atmosphere is not active enough.When teacher uses multimodal teaching mode in vocabulary,students’ English vocabulary scores have been improved.This shows that multimodal teaching mode plays a positive role in English vocabulary teaching.2.If teachers use too many modes in class,students will be dazzled and have no time to take notes,or the vocabulary teaching time is too long,which takes up part of the teaching time.The selection and collocation of modes should be taken seriously,and the teacher should control the practice time of activities and ensure the completion of teaching tasks.This study applies multimodal teaching model to junior high school English vocabulary teaching,hoping to provide new ideas for foreign language teaching,especially for English vocabulary teaching. |
