A Simultaneous Interpreting Practice Report On 70 Years Of China’s Tax System Reform

As China’s overall strength continues to increase,China’s role in handling international affairs is becoming more and more important。 The exchanges with countries around the world are becoming more and more frequent.Simultaneous interpretation has become an indispensable medium of communication in international events and diplomatic occasions.This report was based on a simultaneous interpretation practice with the theme "70 Years of China’s Tax Reform: The Important Course and Development Direction".The task was completed under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.The author made a lot of pre-interpretation preparations,recorded the simultaneous interpretation,transcribed and analyzed the recordings.In the task introduction section,the author introduced the characteristics and theoretical preparation of this task.When reviewing the task process,the report describes the pre-interpretation preparation,the on-interpreting performance and post-interpreting reorganization and reflection The interpreter experienced some emergencies,such as partial update of the speaker’s content before the simultaneous interpretation,and the pen fell.By stabilizing the mentality,using the related knowledge made in pre-interpretation preparation and quickly taking the spare pen,the interpreter solved the emergencies.The interpreter encountered difficulties in interpreting Chinese-specific vocabulary and idioms.Since these words are concise in form with rich connotations,it is a huge challenge for interpreters.In addition,the occurrence of repetition and oral errors has greatly increased the difficulty of interpretation.According to the Interpretive Theory,the author used "Comprehension-Deverbalization-Reproduction" as a guide to transform the Chinese vocabulary into comprehensible content,which made it to complete the task in a short time.Under this circumstance,the author hopes to find directions in this paper to solve these questions as following: how to clarify the logical order of the speakers and transfer the source language information according to the habits of the target language recipients in the interpretation process.Through this practice,it is found that the application of Interpretive Theory can improve the effect of interpretation.While accumulating relevant professional knowledge and language culture,interpreters combine theoretical guidance with practice,which can constantly improve the interpretation level and optimize the interpretation process.The author hopes that the experience of this practice and the strategies proposed can provide some reference and inspiration for the beginners of interpretation.
