Study On The Uyghur Translation Of "Laughter" In 《hong Lou Meng》

Laughter is a common expression of human beings,and it is one of the basic actions of com municating ideas by nonverbal means.There are many kinds of laughter and rich meanings.Lau ghing vocabulary is rich in content and diverse in usage,which plays an important role in shapin g characters and promoting the development of story lines in literary works.The quality of its tra nslation has a certain influence on the dissemination and promotion of the translated works.Base d on a Dream of Red Mansions and guided by functional equivalence theory,this paper classifies laughter and its related words and phrases in a Dream of Red Mansions,and makes a concrete a nalysis of its Uyghur translation,and draws relevant conclusions.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,which summarizes the previous research results on laughter and A Dream of Red Mansions,explains the purpose and significance of writing,and the research methods and corpus sources used in the writing process of the thesis.The second part summarizes the vocabulary of "laughter" in A Dream of Red Mansions.The third part classifies and explores the Uyghur translation of "Xiao" words including notional words and function words.The study found that,In the process of translation,translators adopt different translation methods for the same word in combination with different contexts and semantics,The translator’s translation strategy of combining domestication and foreignization is well reflected by making the translated text as equivalent as possible to the original text in form and meaning,fully considering the readers’ acceptance ability,and choosing words that conform to the expression habits of the target language as far as possible when choosing words.The fourth part probes into the Uyghur translation of "Xiao" phrases."Xiao" phrases mainly include fixed phrases and free combination phrases.The structure content mainly includes partial positive phrases,positive complement phrases,continuous predicate phrases,and joint phrases.In the process of translating fixed phrases,the translator mainly adopts literal translation methods in order to maintain the original structure.When translating freely combined phrases,the translator’s choice of translation methods is also more flexible,and skillfully uses translation skills such as adding words,subtracting words and replacing words to better reproduce the original context.Finally,the conclusion summarizes the research results of Uyghur translation of "laughter" vocabulary.
