Since China’s first documentary "The heroic Xinyang people" was broadcast in 1958,the documentary has undergone more than half a century of development.The content and form of creation have undergone earth-shaking changes,and excellent works have emerged in endlessly.Now,although the documentary industry has formed a certain scale,but compared with the film,there is still a large gap in its scale,the audience is far less than the film,there is still a huge space for development in the future.Exploring the reasons,the film has ups and downs of the story,more attractive to the audience,more to meet their psychological needs.However,the documentary hailed as the human "mirror of survival",most of them only reflect objective reality,narrative techniques is single and lack of story,it is difficult to arouse the interest of the audience.Therefore,many creators and scholars agree that the documentary will need to learn from the storytelling skills in the film,strengthen the story of the documentary under the premise of ensuring the authenticity,and achieve the purpose of attracting more audiences.The storytelling narrative has opened up a whole new path for the development of documentary,changed the creative thinking of documentary creators and the aesthetic concept of audience to a certain extent,and had a positive impact on promoting the development of domestic documentary.This article will be based on the relevant theory of documentary stories,uses the field investigation of anthropology and participation in observation,and combines the creative practice process of graduation work "Camel keepers in Lop Nur" to explore the application of story narrative skills in documentary.
