A Report On The Chinese Translation Of The English Texts Concerning The Care Of Children In Disasters

Due to their dependence and their own physical and psychological vulnerability,children are the most vulnerable members and groups in disasters.It is increasingly more and more important to care about the safety of children,particularly when they are in disasters.The thesis is a report on the Chinese translation of seven English articles concerning the care of children in disasters,which are chosen from https://www.cdc.gov/----the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)in US.In the thesis,analyses are made on the problems encountered in the translation and the corresponding solutions are come up with.The translation problems include the over-focus on the English syntactic structures,the lack of coherence and the loss of persuasive mood in the target texts.The specific solutions are the reconstruction of the translation according to the Chinese features,the post-editing of the target texts at the discourse level,and the optimization of target texts according to the expectation of the target readers.The translation is helpful for the translator to develop her translation competence.Hopefully,the thesis may be helpful for other translators who meet the similar problems.
