| Since English has become the international language as a result of the economic globalization,people especially children all over the world learn English from their childhood.The basic component of languages is “vocabulary”.With continuous input of language,babies come up with some simple words bit by bit.Output follows input.Gradually,the babies learn sentences,which unite several words together.However,it’s difficult for students to learn a second language effectively without a good deal of the input.As English teachers,the method of guiding students in learning vocabulary is needful in our daily work.This thesis aims to do a research on the application of English vocabulary teaching in primary school guided by Situational Teaching Approach.This thesis suggests that Situational Teaching Approach should be used in English vocabulary teaching in primary school.Li Jilin states that situational learning of Chinese style should be based on“image theory”,which helps a lot in language teaching.According to the theory,we have 3research questions.The research questions are as follows:Question 1: Can the Situational Teaching Approach be more effective than traditional teaching approach in English vocabulary teaching in primary school?Question 2: How does Situational Teaching Approach promote English vocabulary teaching and learning in primary school?Question 3: Can the Situational Teaching Approach improve students’ abilities in learning English words more effectively?The procedures are as follows: Researchers choose three random classes in Grade5,which are the Matched Class(MC),the Experimental Class(EC)and the Control Class(CC).Before the experiment,teacher can give students some questionnaires.We should test students’ word-base before,during and after the experiment.Finally,we should analyze the data.According to the research,we could solve the research questions above.1.The Situational Teaching Approach could be more effective.2.The Situational Teaching Approach could promote English vocabulary teaching and learning in primary school by motivating students’ interests and emotions.3.The Situational Teaching Approach could improve students’ abilities in learning English words more effectively.In conclusion,the Situational Teaching Approach is better in achieving the three dimension goals. |
