A Study On The Relationship Among Adult Attachment,Self-esteem And Intolerance Of Of Uncertainty In Young People | | Posted on:2022-09-23 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:T X Qin | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2505306479450704 | Subject:Applied psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Intolerance of uncertainty refers to the cognitive bias of individuals perceiving,interpreting and responding to uncertain situations or events.Adult attachment refers to the recollection and reappearance of their childhood attachment experience by adults,as well as their current evaluation of this attachment experience.Self-esteem is an individual’s positive or negative attitude towards oneself.Studies have found that the scores of the attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance dimensions of adult attachment in the youth group are positively correlated with the intolerance of uncertainty score,negatively correlated with the individual’s overall self-esteem level,and self-esteem is negatively correlated with intolerance of uncertainty.Studies have suggested that attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance dimensions and self-esteem may be important influencing factors of intolerance of uncertainty.In addition,the individual’s overall self-esteem level may play a partially mediating role in the relationship between adult attachment and intolerance of uncertainty.Therefore,this study uses the method of self-reporting,and adopts a combination of cross-sectional and longitudinal research to explore the relationship between the attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance dimensions of adult attachment among young adults,self-esteem,and intolerance of uncertainty,attachment anxiety,attachment The influence of avoidance and self-esteem on intolerable uncertainty,and the mediating role of self-esteem in attachment anxiety,attachment avoidance and intolerance of uncertainty.Methods: The first study used the Chinese version of the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale(IUS-12)and the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale(SES)for 420 young subjects(18-34 years old).,The Adult Attachment Scale(AAS),which evaluates attachment anxiety,attachment avoidance,self-esteem,and intolerance of uncertainty through online or offline methods,and uses correlation analysis and mediating effect analysis to explore the relationship between variables relationship.The second study adopts a longitudinal research method.From October to December 2020(T2),a total of 211 subjects who filled out the above scale from September to November 2018(T1)were followed up,and 69 people were successfully tracked.,Using regression analysis to explore the relationship between the subjects’ attachment anxiety,attachment avoidance,self-esteem and their intolerance of uncertainty level two years later(T2).Results: In Study 1,the scores of the dimension of attachment avoidance were significantly positively correlated with the total score of intolerance of uncertainty;the scores of the dimension of attachment anxiety were correlated with the total score of intolerance of uncertainty.Significantly positive correlation;the total score of self-esteem is significantly negatively correlated with the total score of intolerance of uncertainty;attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance scores of the two dimensions are significantly negatively correlated with the total score of self-esteem.Self-esteem plays a part of the mediating role between attachment avoidance and intolerance of uncertainty.The mediating effect ratio is 14%.It also plays a part of mediating role in the relationship between attachment anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty.The mediating effect is 18%.In Study 2,the correlation between adult attachment,self-esteem,and intolerance of uncertainty measured at the T1 and T2 stages is the same as in Study 1.The self-esteem level of T1 can significantly negatively affect the intolerance of uncertainty level of T2;the attachment avoidance of T1 can significantly positively affect the intolerance of uncertainty level of T2.Conclusion: The higher the attachment anxiety or attachment avoidance of the youth group,the lower the level of self-esteem,and the higher the level of intolerance of uncertainty;the higher the self-esteem,the lower the level of intolerance of uncertainty;self-esteem is in attachment avoidance,attachment anxiety and intolerable Uncertainties play a partial mediating role;attachment avoidance and self-esteem can predict intolerable uncertainties in the future. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Adult attachment, self-esteem, intolerance of uncertainty, longitudinal study | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
