A Textual Research On Xu Zuosu’s Life And Friendship

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the general mood of form association was prevailed,and Xueyuan society was the largest and most influential literary society in Zhongzhou.As an important member of Xueyuan society,Xu Zuosu is an important participant and organizer of literary activities in Shangqiu.This paper attempts to presents a panorama of Xu Zuosu’s collection of the Ou Geng Tang,refer to his friends Hou Fangyu,Song Luo,Jia Kaizong and Chen Weisong’s poems,combine the documentes of historical biography and local chronicles,so as to show Xu Zuosu’s family background and the course of making friends more completely,and provide more information for the study of Xu Zuosu and the whole Zhongzhou literati group under the historical background of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is about Xu Zuosu’s family and his lifetime.This chapter investigates the main members of his family and their influence on Xu Zuosu,in order to study on the influence of his family background on his friends and literary creation.This chapter systematically combs Xu Zuosu’s life,and on the basis of previous studies,studies the establishment time of Xueyuan liuzishe.The second chapter is about the travel situation of Xu zusu Xueyuan society.During the period of Xueyuan society,Xu zuoshu mainly discussed the literary industry and the reward of poetry and wine with the key members who participated in the establishment of Xueyuan society,such as Liu Boyu,Wu bozu,Wu boyin,Zhang Wei,Hou Fangyu and Jia Kaizong,and Hou Fangzhen,Hou Fangxia and Hou Fangyue who participated in the literary activities of Xueyuan society in the later period.This chapter lists the members of Xueyuan society through the examination,and combs the travel between Xu Zuoshu and Xueyuan members.The third chapter makes a textual research on Xu Zuo’s social activities during the period of Xuyuanliuzishe.During the period of Xueyuan Liuzi society,Xu zuosu continued to keep close contact with members of Xueyuan society,such as Hou fangyue and Hou Fangyan.At the same time,he also worked with old friends of Xueyuan,such as Hou Fangyu,Jia Kaizong,Xu Shichen,as well as Shangqiu’s late comers,Song Luo and Xu Lintang.He also enjoyed banquets with Shangqiu’s local literati,and Chen Weisong and Ji Dong and other literatis,who came to Shangqiu.Starting from Xu Zuosu and his works,this chapter mainly combs the course of his friendship with Song Luo,Chen Weisong and Ji Dong,and discusses the influence of his friendship with other scholars on Xu zuosu.In the process of making friends with these scholars,Xu Zuosu established his own concept of literary creation,and the activities of making friends also enriched the content of Xu Zuosu’s literary creation,he can also propagated the thought of literary creation.Moreover,it is because of the communication between Xu Zuosu and Hou Fangyu and other famous scholars that his works can be known by more scholars and spread more widely.
