A Report On The E-C Translation Of "MSRBot: Using Bots To Answer Questions From Software Repositories"

The 21st century witnesses rapid progress of science and technology.Particularly,it brings the research in the field of computer a qualitative leap.With the continuous updating and iteration of the software system,it will inevitably cause related software defects in the process of software maintenance,and extracting and repairing such defects requires a lot of time,energy and cost for developers.The rise of artificial intelligence has undoubtedly explored a new way for coping with these problems.“Using Bots to Answer Questions from Software Repositories” illustrates the great significance of applying artificial intelligence to software repository,which can be used as a reference for dealing with software defects in the future.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,this paper discusses the English translation strategies of computer texts from the perspectives of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.Through this translation practice,the translator has a deeper understanding of translation theory and greatly improves the translation ability.At the same time,the translator hopes to provide reference for the translation research of scientific and technological texts in the future.This translation report is divided into five chapters.Chapter One mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of the translation practice.Chapter Two analyzes the source,structure and language features of the original text.Chapter Three places emphasis onto the translation process from three parts:pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation revision.Chapter Four analyzes the difficulties encountered in the process of translation from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and text,as well as the translation strategies and methods adopted under the guidance of communicative translation theory.Chapter Five reviews the report process and summarizes the translation strategies used in this practice,as well as provides a summary of gains and shortcomings that the translator encountered in the process of translating,and suggestions for further research study.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to help the target readers to have a deeper understanding of the research on the application of artificial intelligence to software repository,and also hopes to provide valuable reference for translators who translate similar texts in the future.
