A Translation Report On Technical Text

With the rapid development of computer technology,more and more foreign IT books are flooding into the Chinese translation market.While enriching the subject matter of translation,it also brings more challenges to the translator.The research materials selected in this report are parts of a book of Go,a computer programming language.Obviously,it is a representative technical book.Therefore,the author hopes that the translation of this book can provide some reference for the translation of the technical text.This report first describes the background of the topic,the main content,the purpose,and the significance of the research.Then it describes the relevant information about the translation materials and the reasons for the selection,analyzes and grasps the language style of the text,and predicts the possible translation difficulties.Then,the author displays the whole translation process from three aspects: pre-translation preparation,translation progress control,and post-translation proofreading.In the case analysis part,the author summarizes the typical problems encountered in the translation process and combines them with specific cases respectively from characters,language,and illustrations.In the first aspect,the emphasis is on the code-mixing phenomenon and the difference between Chinese and English symbols.At the linguistic level,it discusses the translation of lexical difficulties and concrete sentences like compound sentences and conditional sentences.In terms of illustrations,the report explores the corresponding translation strategies according to the different functions of various illustrations in the text,and finally puts forward solutions and ideas based on relative cases.The purpose of this report is to summarize and analyze the difficulties encountered in translation,so as to provide a reference for the study of technical text translation and at the same time to arouse people’s attention to technical translation and promote its development.
