| Vocabulary plays a crucial role in learning English and also the key to learn English well.The amount of vocabulary has great connections with students’ language ability,so it is necessary to explore a very effective English vocabulary teaching.However,mind mapping is an important teaching aid,which can show knowledge in the way of pictures,colors etc.and link and enlarge knowledge in the way of pictures and texts.In order to further explore the application effect of mind mapping to teaching,this thesis tries to apply mind mapping to junior high school English vocabulary teaching,with the purpose of providing an effective vocabulary memorizing method for students.In view of this,three questions are researched in this study: 1.What is the current situation of English vocabulary learning in junior high school? 2.How can mind mapping be applied to improve the efficiency of English vocabulary learning? 3.What are the effects of applying mind mapping to English vocabulary teaching in junior high school?With the guidance of constructivism theory,knowledge visualization theory and brain science theory,this thesis applies mind mapping to conduct vocabulary teaching and tries to improve students’ vocabulary learning efficiency.The author chooses two parallel classes of Grade 7 in No.13 Junior High School in Xining as the research subjects,which are respectively Class 2 and Class 5.After the pre-test,the number of students in the two classes did not differ much,and there was little difference in their English vocabulary level.In the 13-week experimental study,the author collected a large number of relevant data and materials through questionnaire survey,interview and vocabulary test.Finally,SPSS 24.0 was used to analyze the data of the questionnaire and test results.Based on the analysis of all kinds of data,it can be concluded that the use of mind mapping in English vocabulary teaching,improves students’ interest in English vocabulary learning,helps students to memorize vocabulary effectively,and even improves students’ English vocabulary scores.At the same time,the author hopes that this research can provide some implications for junior high school vocabulary teaching,so as to make vocabulary teaching and learning more effective. |
