In the field of educational psychology,the factors affecting student achievements have always been hot issues.Research results in recent years show that English learning achievements is not only affected by students’ intellectual factors,but also by non-intellectual factors,which is the result of the combination.In the process of English teaching,teachers pay too much attention to intellectual factors,while ignoring the influence of non-intellectual factors on students.Non-intellectual factors include motivation,interest,will,emotion/affect,personality and other factors,which play an extremely important role in the process of English learning.In daily teaching work,teachers should strengthen the cultivation of students’ non-intellectual factors,clarify learning motivation,stimulate learning interest,and enhance learning will to help them develop good learning habits.This thesis explores the correlation between non-intellectual factors and high school English learning achievements,so as to better strengthen the cultivation of high school students’ non-intellectual factors and improve students’ English learning effects.This thesis uses questionnaire and interviews to investigate and interview the level of non-intellectual factors in the process of high school English learning.Then select the final English test of the first grade of M City No.5 Senior High School to fully understand the students’ English learning situation.And the final scores are classified into high and low groups according to the student’s achievement.The research of this thesis mainly focuses on the following three questions:(1)What is the current situation of the non-intellectual factors of high school students?(2)What is the difference between the non-intellectual factors of the students with high scores and low scores?(3)What are the correlations between non-intellectual factors and English achievements of senior high school students?The research results of this thesis are:(1)Students have certain manifestations of every non-intellectual factor in the process of learning.Students have good learning interests,but their learning motivations are not clear,and they lack the motivation and will to persist in learning.(2)The level of non-intellectual factors of students with high English scores is much higher than that of students with low scores.There are significant differences between high and low groups in learning motivation,interest,will,emotion/affect,personality and high school English learning achievements.(3)There is a positive correlation between student non-intellectual factors and high school English achievements,but the correlation coefficient is not very high.This can be considered as the impact of high school English achievements,not only by non-intellectual factors.It is also affected by other factors,such as intellectual factors.(4)In order to support the research,the students and teachers are interviewed and analyzed separately.The results of the student interviews show that the students in the low score group have paid less attention to the importance of the non-intellectual factors than that in high score group,which is important for cultivating their own learning motivation,interest,will,emotion/affect and personality.They know little about the non-intellectual factors.The results of teacher interviews show that teachers do not pay enough attention to the cultivation of students’ non-intellectual factors in English teaching.The teaching methods should be strengthened,and non-intellectual factors should be fully applied to English learning to improve students’ English achievements.Through the above research,suggestions for cultivating non-intellectual factors in high school English teaching are put forward.If the cultivation of non-intellectual factors is consciously strengthened,a variety of teaching methods can cultivate students’ learning initiative and interest,and continue to guide students to cultivate correct learning habit.The research in this thesis can provide some reference for the cultivation of students’ non-intellectual factors in the process of high school English learning,and give full play to the role of non-intellectual factors in high school English learning...
