The National English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High School(2017)issued by the Ministry of Education puts forward that the general goal is “to cultivate and develop students’ language ability, cultural consciousness, thinking quality, learning ability and other core literacy”.It emphasizes paying attention to the teaching reform in the information environment, adhering to the laws of education and students’ physical and mental development and strives to develop students’ core literacy. This also shows the importance of emotional attitude to learning, and positive emotional attitude is conducive to promoting active learning and sustainable development. However,as far as the application of multimedia in English listening and speaking teaching in senior high schools in China is concerned, teachers often only attach importance to students’ learning of basic knowledge, ignoring the important role of emotional factors in English teaching as well as the cultivation of affective strategies in English teaching. Thus some problems in teaching have arisen, such as insufficient attention paid to emotional education, and some students lack learning motivation and self-confidence,and students always feel anxious and nervous in learning. This not only reduces the enthusiasm of students in learning English, but also hinders the realization of emotional goals in English teaching and the improvement of teaching quality as well. Therefore,it is an urgent research topic that how multimedia technology is fully used to improve English listening and speaking teaching, cultivating students’ emotional strategies so as to promote students’ all-round development. On the basis of combing the relevant research at home and abroad, this paper adopts three research methods: literature research, questionnaire survey and interview, based on the emotional filtering hypothesis and constructivism theory.204 senior high school students and 10 English teachers are the subjects of the research. This thesis discusses the following research questions: the emotional attitude of high school students towards English listening and speaking learning, the influence of English listening and speaking teaching in multimedia environment on students’ learning attitude and the main emotional problems in English listening and speaking teaching. The study found that some students have emotional problems such as weak learning motivation, lack of self-confidence,and may feel anxious and nervous when communicating and learning.According to these problems, the author puts forward the corresponding affective strategies and analyzes them.Through the use of affective strategies to cultivate students’ positive emotions and eliminate anxiety,it is hoped to improve students’ learning efficiency of English listening and speaking learning.
