| After the end of the Second World War,the world order has undergone major changes, forming two major political patterns, led by the United States and the Soviet Union. With the establishment of New China and the outbreak of the Korean War,the United States stepped up its intervention in Vietnam under the guidance of the "domino theory",hoping to build Vietnam into the cornerstone of the free world in Southeast Asia.In 1954,the Geneva Agreement stipulated that a temporary military demarcation line was demarcated by the 17 th parallel north, and Vietnam split from north to south. The South was destroyed by the reactionary forces in the south led by Ngo and finally fell into the hands of the United States. In the two decades since American forces entered Vietnam in large numbers, the promotion of American culture has been stepped up through multiple means, which has had a great impact on the behavioral culture of southern Vietnam. This article uses four chapters to discuss the influence of the United States on the behavior culture of southern Vietnam from 1954 to 1975.The first chapter discusses the historical background of the collision between American culture and Vietnamese culture, mainly through the process of American power entering Vietnam and the cultural projects promoted by the United States in southern Vietnam. In the main chapter, the second and third chapters, the chapter framework is constructed through the definition of behavior culture.Because lifestyle and customs are important manifestations of behavioral culture, these two important manifestations are discussed in these two chapters respectively. The author looks at the influence of American culture on the lifestyles of southerners through four aspects: labor mode, consumption mode, leisure mode, and communication mode.It also discusses the influence of American culture on the customs and habits of southern Vietnam through the aspects of marriage customs, funerals, festivals, food and appellation. In the last part,Chapter4 analyzes the ways of American culture spreading in southern Vietnam from the perspectives of education and mass media. The U.S.endorsed its strong industrial technology and economic strength, which enabled the spread of American culture through multiple media in southern Vietnam in these two decades.During the two decades from 1954 to 1975,the United States played a role of cultural imperialism and exerted a great influence on the behavioral culture of southern Vietnam. The research on this topic will help us rationally identify foreign cultures in the context of the continuous integration of Eastern and Western cultures, and at the same time how to better remove the dross of foreign cultures, strengthen our own cultural construction, and enhance cultural self-confidence.It has certain practical significance for how to better develop the culture and cultural industry of the nation to oppose cultural hegemony. |
