| Reading is an important source of language input.It is not only an important way for students to acquire information and improve their ability of using English,but also an effective way for students to develop their English subject core competence.English reading is an essential and difficult part of students’ English learning all the time.The teaching model of English reading nowadays focuses on teachers’ teaching and students’ listening in the class,which cannot fully stimulate students’ learning interest in class and motivate their participation before and after class,and thus the teaching effect is not significant.With the gradual deepening of the college entrance examination system reform and the new curriculum reform,many researchers and teachers are exploring and practicing English reading teaching methods to improve students’ English reading scores and reading ability.In recent years,GLP Teaching Model has been applied in schools at home and aboard.In this teaching model,teachers need to design guided learning plan through research on the teaching materials and students.Students try to independently discover,analyze and solve problems through the guided learning plan written by teachers,and teachers give timely guidance in the learning process.Therefore,this research attempts to apply GLP Teaching Model to English reading teaching in senior high school in order to verify that this teaching model in English reading teaching can create an efficient English learning environment,strengthen students’ reading ability and motivation in English learning.In this research,the two parallel classes in the Grade Two of No.4 Senior High School in Xining,Qinghai Province will be selected for the research participants.Class 8(53 students)will be the experimental class(EC)and Class 7(53 students)will be the control class(CC).In the CC,teacher will use the previous teaching methods,while in the EC,the author will implement the GLP Teaching Model.This research will observe the two classes for about 16 weeks and will discuss how to combine the GLP Teaching Model with the English reading teaching in senior high school,so as to apply the guided learning plan to exert good influence on improving students’ English reading effect.This research attempts to answer the following three questions:1.What is the influence of the guided learning plan teaching model on students’ reading motivation and reading ability in English reading teaching?2.What are the effects of the guided learning plan teaching model in English reading teaching on students’ English reading scores?3.What should teachers pay attention to when designing English reading guided learning plan for students?This research will be based on Input Hypothesis,Output Hypothesis,Zone of Proximal Development and Constructivism and use the research methods of questionnaires,tests and interviews.After the experiment,the author will use SPSS25.0 to analyze the collected data.The experiment demonstrates: 1.The guided learning plan teaching model has a positive influence on students’ reading motivation and reading ability in English reading teaching.2.The guided learning plan teaching model has a significant effect on improving English reading scores of the students in senior high school.3.The teachers should make full use of the advantages and do their best to avoid the problems and shortcomings of using the guided learning plan teaching model.This research also proves that the application of GLP Teaching Model to English reading teaching is one of the effective ways to improve students’ reading level.Although there are several limitations in this research,the major findings provide some suggestions for the English reading teaching in senior high school and further research on guided learning plan teaching model. |
