| Reading materials are the important intermediary for effective English reading teaching and the important basis for achieving teaching objectives.The content of the seventh grade topic in junior high school is mostly learned in primary school,which makes students familiar with it,and also lacks freshness and challenge.In view of this,this study introduced an extended course of English picture books in Grade 7 in order to figure out how to develop and apply picture book resources in Grade 7 English reading teaching.The study is divided into three stages.In the first stage,the researcher adopts picture tour method to picture book reading teaching and it is found that some students are not interested in English reading because of the lack of necessary reading skills.The researcher tries to solve this problem from the choice of picture books and the selection of teaching methods in the second stage and it is found that students’ reading interests in continuous action are improving through classroom records and teacher logs,while the cultivation of reading habits and the formation of reading literacy has little effect.The researcher tries to solve problems by changing the teaching evaluation and enriching the assignment arrangement.In the action research,teacher’s research,reflection,action permeate every stage.This study,through the expansion and application of picture book teaching mode in the seventh grade reading teaching,can stimulate students’ interest in English learning and keep the positive motivation of English learning compared with the original teaching mode of using English textbook materials only.The English picture book which is more close to the real life of English countries can make students contact with pure and authentic high frequency words and expressions,which make up for the shortage of teaching materials to some extent. |
