This report chooses Chapter three of Economic Theory in the Twentieth Century,An Intellectual History-Volume I 1890–1918.Economics in the Golden Age of Capitalism as the source text.The chapter illustrates the development process of intellectual history from 1842 to 1940 from four perspectives: the introduction to Marshall,Marshall’s School,non-Marshallian marginalist economics and an economic heretic in the Marshallian era.In addition,this chapter also discusses the way that Alfred Marshall,founder of the neoclassicism,develops his economic theories,as well as the economic principles that he has put forward are opposed by his opponents.Guided by Chesterman’s translation norms,the report illustrates the difficulties that the translator has encountered during the translation process and puts forward the solutions accordingly.In the process of translation,the translator encounters difficulties in terms of comprehension,expression and translation of long and complex sentences.As for the latter two difficulties,the translator adopts translation skills like annotation,division and restructuring under the guidance of translation norms.It is hoped that the translation practice can accumulate translation experience in economic texts.
