On The Cultural Symbols And Artistic Expression Of Baishi Qi’s Sui Chao Pictures

Baishi Qi is the most important master of art in the 20th century.He integrated the characteristics of folk art into traditional Chinese painting,so that his art not only has the fine tradition of folk art,but also exudes the literati flavor of traditional Chinese painting,forming his own unique artistic style.Qi’s art enlightened the realistic development road of Chinese painting,and played a bridge role in connecting the traditional and modern Chinese painting.Starting from the theme of Sui Zhao pictures in traditional Chinese painting,this paper focuses on Qi’s works,trying to prove that Qi added new cultural symbols to the traditional Sui Zhao pictures painting.The main content of this paper is divided into three parts.In the first part,through the analysis of Qi’s paintings of the Sui Zhao pictures,we find out the cultural symbols in Qi’s works,which are different from the traditional paintings of the Sui Zhao pictures.Exploring the connotation and moral behind the cultural symbols,as well as the artistic expression of the combination of these cultural symbols and Qi’s painting style in his paintings of the Sui Zhao pictures.The second part tries to find out the reasons why Qi renewed the cultural symbols in the Sui Zhao pictures from his personal life experience,that include his career as a student,his learning process of imitating the past and his spiritual interest.It also focuses on the influence of other related factors,such as the market demand of Sui Zhao pictures,Qi’s commercial transformation in the process of painting,and the compatibility of Qi’s painting style and Sui Zhao pictures.Finally,it discusses the influence and significance of Qi’s new cultural symbols on the Sui Zhao pictures map.Through the exploration of the cultural symbols in Qi’s works,this paper shows the special charm of the secular cultural symbols in his works.They not only express the joy of the new year in Sui Zhao pictures,but also show the interest of the ordinary life,which makes the Sui Zhao pictures develop further,closer to life and show innocence.
