| From the perspective of Gile’s Effort Model, this report is based on a consecutive interpreting for a CMMI interview, trying to discuss the causes of interpreting mistakes and solutions correspondingly.Although adequate preparations such as parallel texts and glossaries were made before the interpreting, misinterpreting and information missing were inevitably seen in the project.According to Gile’s Effort Model, there are three different efforts in interpreting operation as listening, production and memory.Once the three efforts are unbalanced,it is inexorable to make mistakes in interpreting. Therefore, based on Gile’s theory, three causes of misinterpreting and information missing were categorized in the report as difficulties in listening and analysis, effort allocation and speech production. In addition, measures to reduce misinterpreting and information missing in terms of the three reasons were also discussed. The report discovers the mistakes made in the interpreting by reviewing the process. In the meanwhile, causes of misinterpreting and information missing and corresponding solutions are about to be analyzed based on Gile’s Effort Model.Hopefully, the analysis would be helpful to improve the quality of interpreting in future practices, and enlightening for other interpreters and interpreting-lovers. |
