As China’s national strength and international influence is rising steadily, there is an explosion of growth in academic exchanges between China and other countries. And one of the most important channels to achieve academic exchanges is academic works translating. The book Gender,Clothing and Ethics written by Professor Tao Hui of Wuhan Textile University, being published in 2018,incorporates gender into the study of women’s clothing. Her book breaks through the limitations of traditional dress researches. However, recent researches on the translation of academic works such as clothing history from the perspective of gender are still limited,so this report is of great significance for the translation and research of such texts. There are plenty of complex and lengthy sentences containing a large number of clothing and ethics terms in Gender,Clothing and Ethics. And most sentences are difficult to understand with subject omission, multiple modifiers and implicit logic in them.Because of a deep interest in the history of western clothing, the translator chooses the first two sections of the first chapter of the book,Gender,Clothing and Ethics as the translation materials, and then completes the translation report independently. This dissertation is divided into five parts: introduction, task description, translation process, case analysis and practice summary.Based on the three-dimensional adaptation and selective conversion of Eco-translatology theory, the translator expounds her translation methods from the lexical, syntactical, textual and cultural dimensions to make adaption in language, culture and communication.
