Musical Analysis And Performance Techniques Of Liszt’s Piano Adaptation Of 《Faust Waltz》

Franz Liszt is a famous Hungarian composer,pianist,conductor and educator.His works are well-known in the world for their superb piano playing skills and high artistry.As a pioneer of romantic style,he made great contribution to the promotion of romantic music style."The waltz of Faust" was adapted by Liszt in 1860 according to the chorus at the end of the second act of the opera "Faust" by French composer Cournot.This work depicts the scene of the hero Faust’s affectionate confession to his sweetheart,the beautiful girl Marguerite.This work retains the main melody of the chorus segment in the opera Faust,and changes it in combination with Liszt’s most skilled composing techniques.It not only retains the music style of the original aria,but also injects the distinctive characteristics of Liszt’s personal music,with a strong romantic color,and the whole song flows into the atmosphere of youth.This paper takes the "Faust waltz" as the research object,starting from the background of the music creation era,focuses on the analysis of the technical difficulties and emotional control of the piano work,trying to grasp the internal relationship between style technology and performance in Liszt’s piano music works through the specific work analysis,trying to deepen the understanding of romantic music style,in order to improve the piano performance It also provides the corresponding theoretical basis for the teaching and research of piano performance of "Faust waltz".This paper consists of five chapters: the first chapter is the background of the creation of "Faust waltz".The second chapter introduces the music structure analysis of "Faust waltz",mainly for its music creation techniques.The third chapter introduces its artistic features.The fourth chapter,combined with my own learning experience and accumulated experience in teaching practice,discusses and analyzes the technical difficulties and teaching points of "Faust waltz" from the overall perspective.The fifth chapter introduces the author’s thinking on Western piano works from the "Faust waltz".
