| Through continuous development,music and literature began to pay attention to expressing own emotions in the Romantic period,defying the authority and tradition of classicism,during this time,the two were more connected.As a result,many musical compositions at this time have a literary character.Liszt is one of the representative musicians in the Romantic period.Due to the influence of his growth environment,he has a certain literary quality,so he has created many literary musical works."Faust Waltz" is one of them.It was based on Liszt’s adaptation of the Gounod opera "Faust" and his own creation of the second act’s coda.The whole piece is full of romanticism and contains rich performances technique,is an example of the fusion of literature and music.Based on the connection between literature and music in the Romantic era,this article will examine the literariness of Liszt’s "Faust Waltz",and combined with the author’s own playing and learning experience to explore how to better express the literariness in the work.It is intended that this research will complement the textual analysis of Liszt’s works and provide future performers with some motivation to learn such musical compositions.This article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter introduces the development and mutual relationship between music and literature in Liszt’s romantic period,as well as Liszt ’ s own artistic experience,and expounds the creation background of "Faust Waltz".The second chapter analyzes the literariness of "Faust Waltz" from the aspects of musical structure,tonality,harmony,etc.The third chapter will combine the above theoretical analysis and the author’s own practical experience to explore how to better express the literary quality of musical works through performance. |
