The Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)clearly states that teachers should arrange teaching content and procedures reasonably,and organize various forms of classroom interaction.Reading,as a common type of English classes in junior middle school,not only helps improve language ability,but also promotes the cultivation of students’ thinking quality.Therefore,it is particularly important for the teacher-student interaction in the English reading class of junior middle school.In addition,Flanders(1963: 252)points out that “About two-thirds of the time spent in a classroom,someone is talking”.Therefore,the author researches the speech interaction of English reading class in junior middle school by using Improved Flanders Interaction Analysis System(IFIAS).The research questions are as follows:(1)What is the teacher’s influence tendency for students of high-quality English reading class in junior middle school?(2)What are the teachers’ types of questioning and the mode of questioning and answering of English reading class in junior middle school?(3)How is the emotional atmosphere of teacher-student interaction of English reading class in junior middle school?8 classes,randomly chosen from the 13 th Junior Middle School High-Quality English Class,as the research participants to be observed,coded,calculated,and analyzed based on the Improved Flanders Interactive Analysis System.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The proportion of direct influence in teacher talk is generally higher than indirect influence,so teachers are more likely to directly influence students.(2)Teachers mainly ask closed questions in the classroom,and tend to adopt an innovation-oriented mode of questioning and answering.(3)The emotional atmosphere of teacher-student interaction is more divided,and there is rarely positive and harmonious emotional interaction.Based on these research conclusions,the following suggestions are put forward.Firstly,teachers should give more indirect influence to students and give more encouragement.Secondly,teachers should ask more opened questions and guide students to answer initiatively.Thirdly,teachers should engage in emotional interaction with students.
