Fengxiang clay sculpture is a traditional folk art originated in Guanzhong area of Shaanxi Province.Fengxiang clay sculpture draws motifs from ancient Chinese stone carvings,New Year paintings,paper-cuts and embroidery.Its shape is exaggerated and its colors are bright.Fengxiang clay sculpture was started as early as the Ming Dynasty,and its craft has a long history of more than 600 years ago.After a hundred years of historical inheritance and precipitation,Fengxiang clay sculpture has formed a unique artistic style and form of expression,with rich folk culture connotation and aesthetic research value.As the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list,Fengxiang clay sculpture shows its unique artistic charm in Chinese folk art,enjoying high reputation at home and abroad and deeply loved by everyone."The promotion and innovation of Fengxiang clay sculpture are not necessarily limited to the form of ’clay sculpture’.A form,decoration or color can spread Fengxiang clay sculpture to the public’s vision." In recent years,under the leadership of Hu Xinmin,the inheritor of Fengxiang clay sculpture,a national intangible heritage project,fengxiang clay sculpture products on the market are not only limited to clay sculpture crafts,but also create a series of cultural and creative products with distinctive characteristics of Guanzhong area.Modern decorative painting is a comprehensive form of expression of painting and design,with decorative and romantic artistic characteristics.Its artistic language is diverse and rich,and it has become a carrier of expression of various information,culture,art and emotion.Focusing on the artistic language of Fengxiang clay sculpture,this paper combs and analyzes the artistic language of Fengxiang clay sculpture through literature review,field investigation,analysis method,design practice method and other research methods,and conducts an aesthetic analysis of its artistic language.Combined with the characteristics and design methods of modern decorative paintings,this paper explores the possibility of practical innovation of Fengxiang clay sculpture art language in modern decorative paintings,and creates design works with the connotation of traditional folk culture and national confidence.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of the research,research status,research content and research methods.The second chapter mainly studies the artistic language and aesthetic characteristics of Fengxiang clay sculpture.Firstly,it expounds the origin and development of Fengxiang clay sculpture.Secondly,it analyzes and studies the artistic language elements of Fengxiang clay sculpture from three aspects: classification,characteristics and aesthetic connotation.The third chapter is a basic overview of the modern decorative painting,the concept of modern decorative painting,classification,characteristics and development and application trend.The fourth chapter is an innovative research on the applicability of Fengxiang’s clay sculpture artistic language in modern decorative paintings.It carries out innovative research from the aspects of modeling,decorative elements and colors respectively,and discusses the new methods of Fengxiang’s clay sculpture artistic language in modern decorative paintings.The fifth chapter is the practice of innovative design,from the decorative painting market and consumer survey,the summary of the design scheme to solve the problems and design direction,combined with the previous summary of innovative methods and innovative possibilities for the scheme design,and the design scheme to explain and display.The sixth chapter is the summary and prospect,discussing the inspiration and practical significance of fengxiang clay sculpture’s inheritance and development through the innovative application of fengxiang clay sculpture artistic elements in modern decorative paintings.The study of this topic is helpful to provide more visual expression and spiritual and cultural connotation for the creation of modern decorative paintings,and also provides ideas and reference significance for the inheritance and development of Fengxiang clay sculpture and other traditional folk arts.
