Existentialism Expression In Documentary

As a hot word on the Internet in 2020,Inner Volume represents the cyclical state of contemporary young people who are constantly stimulating themselves in an increasingly competitive environment and feeling more and more pressure.In this atmosphere,the mourning culture has become a kind of subculture of contemporary youth,as well as the anxiety and the emptiness are the common mentality of young people.The protagonist in my documentary Light Wings,Peng Songjie,a gay boy,is a representative person who lives on live-broadcast in his hometown in the countryside after graduating from university.The documentary shows his working and living state at home,showing a maverick but also a normal town youth with ordinary life troubles.Despite his homosexuality,he has the outstanding psychological characteristics of the post-90 s generation.He feels unfounded anxiety,emptiness,and confusion.He wants to change but is helpless.Based on the Light Wings,combined with some concepts in existential philosophy,I’ll analyze and summarize the existential expression in the documentary from the aspects of topic selection,shooting,and editing.Besides,I’ll put forward some thoughts about the existential thinking in the documentary production process.
