Research On The Style Of Calligraphy And Inspiration On Creation Of Epitaph In Pingcheng During Northern Wei Dynasty

The Northern Wei Dynasty was established by Xianbei ethnic group which was an extraordinary era in the Chinese history.This ethnic group was commanded by a sequence of leaders,they commanded an army and went on expeditions,they unified tribes one after another,then they kept a foothold in Daibei,after that they entered and hosted the central plains.At the end,they unified the Northern area of China.A lot of inscriptions were discovered in Pingcheng,due to the fact that it was chosen as a site for the capital for the longest time in the history of Northern Wei Dynasty.Since stone inscriptions study was popular in Qing Dynasty,Weibei calligraphy occupies an extremely important position in the history of calligraphy.The Weibei calligraphy is most commonly found on the epitaph.Over the years,people tend to focus on the Mangshan epitaph group in Luoyang area,rather than pay attention on the epitaph group in Pingcheng area.This article takes the epitaph which excavated in Pingcheng area as the mainline,together with keen interest in the epitaph of calligraphy which generated in on-the-spot investigation with tutor.The epitaph of calligraphy is frequently used as the object to be facsimiled and practiced,with the foundation of use for reference of predecessors’ achievements which divides the article into four sections.The first section is introduction,it mainly discusses the content,purpose and significance of the research topic,in addition,with dynamic analysis of relative researches in this domain.The major content of second part is to introduce the historical background of Pingcheng then take the historical background as the use of point of penetration,in order to investigate the influence of chinesization in Pingcheng area to the Chinese characters and calligraphy.Then collating the calligraphy in Pingcheng area of Northern Wei Dynasty and put epigraph in the form of tables to present its importance.The third segment analyzes and classifies the style of epitaph of calligraphy from technique of calligraphy,structure and art of composition which in Pingcheng area of Northern Wei Dynasty.The fourth part talks about calligraphers in modern and contemporary times facsimile,practice and use epitaph in Northern Wei for reference,by observing famous calligraphers’ ways of calligraphy,it brings great inspiration to the author in facsimile and create.The fifth part is vital in the whole article,as it is a process of the ascent of theory into practice,it fully explains the psychological journey of author from facsimile to create.The sixth part talks about the inspiration to the author during the time of facsimile and create.
