The “student-centered” teaching concept has prompted scholars to focus more on the learners.In the learning process,learners are affected by the environment and their own factors,forming a unique and stable learning tendency,which is the so-called "learning style".Learning style is an important factor that affects the performance and learning results of Chinese learners.Research on it can put forward more reasonable and effective teaching strategies,thereby promoting students’ learning and improving teachers’ teaching quality.The author has the honor to pass the Chinese volunteer teacher project of Center for Language Education and Cooperation(the former Hanban)of the People’s Republic of China,and was selected as the Chinese teacher of the Confucius Institute at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang.Affected by the epidemic,although I failed to take my post on the spot as scheduled,I have been actively completing the task of online Chinese teaching.Based on the systematic exposition of the theory of learning style,this paper takes the Chinese learners of the Confucius Institute at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang as the research object,investigates the Chinese learning styles of Malaysian college students through questionnaire surveys,statistical analysis,and analyzes the survey results.Through this investigation and research,the following findings are mainly found:in terms of overall orientation,auditory and kinesthetic are the main learning styles of Malaysian college students;in social learning styles,they mainly tend to group learning style;In terms of differences,Malaysian college students have obvious gender differences in visual learning styles,that is,girls prefer visual learning styles than boys.There is no obvious difference in the learning styles of Chinese learners at different levels.Elementary Chinese learners tend to be more kinesthetic and group-based,while intermediate Chinese learners are more likely to be visual,auditory,and personal.Based on the above research results,the article proposes specific teaching strategies for the learning style of Malaysian students,hoping to provide a certain reference for Chinese teaching in Malaysia.
