The English-Chinese Translation Report Of Project Management Texts From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

Since the reform and opening-up,China’s economy has achieved tremendous development,which has led to more and more frequent business exchanges.Due to its speed,the airplane has become an important means of transportation.Meanwhile,China’s civil aviation airport construction has made great progress in recent years,but it is still in the developing stage,with problems in construction management.For that reason,international advanced airport construction management technologies and experiences should be urgently learnt and adopted to promote China’s civil aviation airport construction.In this process,the translation of airport construction project management text has become an important link to promote the development of aviation construction and experience exchanges.Taking Cambodian New Phnom Penh International Airport Construction Project Management Plan as the source text and combining the linguistic features and translation requirements of the source text,the thesis,under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,analyzes specific cases from lexical level,syntactic level and textual level and proposes corresponding translation techniques,with the purpose of providing some references for translators in related fields.The research shows that the translator,in project management texts translation,should be faithful to the source text,and convey the information accurately based on fully understanding the source language to meet the requirements of the target readers.Zero translation and annotations should be adopted in the translation of technical terms and abbreviations to achieve lexical equivalence.The translation of active sentences,non-subject sentences and complex sentences is the key to achieving syntactic equivalence.Active sentences in Chinese need to be transformed into passive sentences according to English expression habits;non-subject sentences should be transformed into passive voices or new subjects should be added based on contexts;long and difficult sentences in the source text should be reorganized according to English linguistic features by combination.The logic and cohesion of the context are related to equivalence at textual level.On the basis of understanding the logic of the source text,the translator retains or adds internal cohesive conjunctions to achieve textual equivalence between the two texts.
