From “Folk” To “Modernity”

“Folk” and “modernity” are the narrative contents of Chi Zijian novels and it is also Chi Zijian creative strategy in the field of Chinese literature.The “folk” character in these novels is embodied in the performance of regional culture,the maintenance of death narrative and the modern inheritance of chivalrous spirit.In addition,“modernity” is expressed through the evolution of women image and urban writing from the perspective of urban and rural space,which shows Chi Zijian breakthrough in her creation.From the perspective of diachrony,the process from “folk” to “modernity” is to explore and sort out the track of the occurrence and change of Chi Zijian novel creation;at the same time,this paper also compares the connotation of “folk” and “modernity” in Chi Zijian novels from the perspective of synchronicity,and finds out that “folk” and “modernity” collide in the game;constructs Chi Zijian’s novel world with the same structure.The creation process from “folk” to “modernity” not only shows that Chi Zijian creation is deeply influenced by regional culture,but also reflects the predicament of her novel creation.Therefore,it is necessary to excavate the spiritual resources of Chi Zijian novel creation from the perspective of overall development,place it in the context of the times and the change of literary trend of thought for dynamic investigation,then explore the value and limitation of Chi Zijian novel creation,and correctly view the significance of Chi Zijian creation in the history of Chinese contemporary novel.
