Exorcising Dance or Nuo dance has a long history as a sacrificial dance in ancient.The dancing is a way to show that people were in awe of gods and ghosts,and it is also the earliest form that human beings exerted themselves to fight against the extreme natural environment.this ancient dance is stilled retained in Dayuan Village,Taining County,Fujian Province.Simple in style but profound in culture,it is the treasure of the local.The article introduces the traditional Chinese aesthetic imagery into the dance creation,through the interpretation of "The Face is the Index of the Heart",a dance work with the theme of Dayuan Nuo Dance.Starting with dance imagery and present creative techniques,it presents the spirit of Chinese oriental aesthetics.There are four chapters in the article,and the imagery in "The Face is the Index of the Heart" is discussed from different perspectives.Firstly,the "image" is explained from two perspectives: classical aesthetics and dance,and the imagery expression of traditional Dayuan Nuo Dance is also analyzed.Secondly,the article analyzes the image expression of "The Face is the Index of the Heart" from the perspective of dance form,including image creation and spatial scheduling.Thirdly,through analyses of the religious costumes,masks and Tai Chi Eight-diagram Drums,details of the image are contained.Finally,from the aspect of music,the role of music in the imagery expression of the work is analyzed.Through research and reflection on the image expression in "The Face is the Index of the Heart",it aims to explore the artistic realm of "images outside the image,meanings between the lines".While looking for the deeper connotation of the work,it also enriched the way of presentation in the stage performance of Dayuan Nuo Dance.Through this staged creation,the author hopes that more people are able to understand the customs and features of Dayuan Nuo Dance in northwestern Fujian and make contribute to it.
