Excavation And Expression Of The Character’s Dilemma In Documentary

Character dilemma refers to the situation in which a character encounters obstacles or gets stuck.When the characters in the documentary face or are about to face difficulties,they will take actions to deal with them,thus the story of the documentary begins.Therefore,at the beginning of documentary,we should take whether the characters are in trouble as the primary selection criteria.The dilemma not only enables the documentary hero to better resonate with the audience,but also can express the theme of the film more deeply.The audience enters the inner world of the character by understanding the character’s dilemma,cares about the fate of the character by paying attention to the development of the dilemma,and inspired at the end.This paper focuses on the character dilemmas of several documentaries and my graduation work “The Temple Keeper”.We discusses the exploration and expression of characters ’ dilemma in documentary creation,including the excavation and prediction in the pre-planning,the discovery and capture in the mid-term shooting,and the presentation and prominence in the post-editing,so as to provide some reference for the creation of character documentary.
