As one of the basic skills of English Language Learning,reading can not only enhance students’ language sense and expand their vocabulary,but also broaden their horizons and further feel the unique charm of Chinese and Western culture.Therefore,reading teaching plays an important role during the language learning in the process of cultivating students’ English core literacy.But in the actual teaching process,there are many problems when students read some extra books or do the reading questions,such as:the choices of reading strategies,the usages of reading methods,etc.,which leading to the decrease of reading performance and the interest in English learning.Therefore,improving students’ reading performance by changing the usages of reading strategies is significant.The implementation of the Content-Based Thematic Teaching Mode in the Senior High School English Reading Teaching is mainly based on the “6T” method proposed by Stroller and Grabe,namely Themes,Texts,Topics,Threads,Tasks and Transitions,which establishes the basic information of teaching process.And then combining the information with Activity-Based English Learning.This study is mainly from the existing problems in the teaching procedure,then basing on Content-Based Thematic Teaching Mode to explore the best way in the process of Senior High School English Reading Teaching.The purpose of this paper is to implement the following questions:(1)How to apply the Content-Based Thematic Teaching Mode in the process of Senior High School English Reading Teaching?(2)What are the changes of choosing the reading strategies after applying Thematic Teaching Mode in Senior High School English Reading Teaching?(3)What are the changes in students’ reading performance after applying Thematic Teaching Mode in Senior High School English Reading Teaching?This research carries on the four-month action research to Class Three,Grade Ten in X High School in Changchun through the questionnaire,interview and test.According to the data collection and analysis,we can draw the following conclusions:Firstly,it is feasible to apply the Content-Based Thematic Teaching Mode in the process of Senior High School English Reading Teaching.Secondly,it can effectively change students’ single reading strategy,grasp the theme of the article and pay attention to the combination of text language and content.Finally,it helps to improve students’ reading performance and the polarization phenomenon is gradually narrowing.The author of this paper gains the following enlightenment according this study:Make full use of the high quality resources in the new edition of senior high school English textbooks,continue to strengthen the cultivation of high school students’ English reading strategies and pay attention to the cultivation of students’ group cooperative ability,so as to realize the "Double Subjects" in the classroom reasonably.
