Analysis On The Formation Of Wang Chong’s Calligraphy Style

In Wumen,the tangled network of family,teachers and friends,and township and state,and the mutual closeness,appreciation and promotion among scholars,are not only the medium through which schools can flourish and maintain,but also the obvious regional characteristics of this community.In Ming calligraphy,Wang Chong can be said to be unique.Wang Chong was one of the " Four Wu Clans" in the middle of the Ming Dynasty.He was born in an era when the " Wu Clan Calligraphy School" was rising.He was active in the period when the " Wu Clan Calligraphy School" was on its heyday.He also had the opportunity to have direct contacts with leading figures of the "Wu Clan Calligraphy School" such as Zhu Zhishan and Wen Zhiming,and had close ties with a group of Wu Clan schloars.In addition,he has his own talent and intelligence,high temperament,bright and clean,diligent reading,and is capable of poetry,calligraphy and painting.In particular,he has a great preference for calligraphy.Therefore,although Wang Chong’s short life did not make him retain fame on official career,it left an indelible mark on calligraphy.However,Wang Chong’s influence is not in his tracks.It should be said that it is Wang Chong’s intelligence to deliberately avoid similarities in his tracks.The so-called " book is the voice of the heart",his unique life experience,high moral cultivation and detached aesthetic pursuit have created his "sparse" style of writing.Wang Chong’s reputation is not small,but there have not been many studies.The final formation of a calligrapher’s style is the result of comprehensive factors.Therefore,this paper makes a detailed discussion on the causes of Wang Chong’s calligraphic style in many aspects.The analysis of a single calligrapher’s style is one-sided.Therefore,this article does not study Wang Chong’s style of writing alone,but divides Wang Chong’s style of writing into stages,compares the calligraphers who influenced his style of writing in various periods with Wang Chong’s calligraphy,understands his choice and persistence in the creation process,and combines it with the current creation to feel his aesthetic pursuit and creation method,and enlightens his own learning method and creation method.
