| New Perspectives on Individual Differences in Language Learning and Teaching was edited by Polish scholar Miroslaw Pawlak,which consists of 22 papers about individual differences in second language acquisition since 2010,focusing on the achievements of scholars form eastern Europe,Asia,South America and other regions,which are representative and leading.The author chooses the first part as the translation project,and completes the pre-translation preparation,text analysis and post-translation verification under the guidance of the skopos theory.The language of academic papers included in New Perspectives on Individual Differences in Language Learning and Teaching is formal and normative,and the content is described objectively,which are the characteristics of academic papers.The key to this translation project is to grasp the characteristics of the academic papers and adopt reasonable translation methods.The report focuses on the analysis of long sentences in the original text,the long sentences in the original text can be divided into complex sentences,coordinate sentences,sentences with parenthesis,and the translation methods of each type of long sentence are also different.Complex sentences can be translated using separated clause method,omission,sequential method,coordinate sentences can be translated by retaining the parallel structure and logical connectors,and the sentences with parenthesis can be translated by retaining the original notes and adjusting word order.Finally,the author summarizes the translation project and the translation methods of different types of long sentences in academic papers,explains the overall guiding role of skopos theory,and summarizes the translation experience and translation deficiency. |
