The source text of this translation report is excerpted from Life After Carbon: The Next Global Transformation of Cities written by Pete Plastrik and John Cleveland.The three chapters in the book mainly tell the stories of 25 “innovation laboratory” cities from Copenhagen to Melbourne,and introduce a global innovation model.This translated text is excerpted from the second chapter,which mainly shows us the concepts of global modern city transformation.The writer’s unique views on climate governance undoubtedly provide reference and experience for China to deal with climate issues.Therefore,the translation of this book has its value.According to the linguistic features of the source text,the translator believes that the text belongs to popular science texts,and the main purpose of these texts is to popularize knowledge to the public.Based on this purpose,the translator chooses Skopos Theory to guide translation.Under the guidance of the three principles of Skopos Theory,the translator studies the difficult points from the three levels of lexical,syntactic,textual and adopts translation skills such as annotation,amplification,conversion,and combination to achieve the purpose of translation activities.This translation report mainly studies the translation strategies of the source text,and consists of four chapters.The Chapter One briefly introduces the source text of this translation report and the significance of this translation practice.Chapter two introduces the process of translation and the guiding theories used in translation activities.Chapter Three is the main part of this report.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,this report analyzes and studies the important and difficult points in the translation process.Chapter Four is the conclusion,which summarizes and reflects on translation practice.
