A Study On The Pattern Of Huagai From The Northern Dynasties To Tang Dynasties In Dunhuang Grottoes

In Dunhuang Grottoes,the main part of the frescoes of the Dunhuang Grottoes is the art of juxtaposition of the frescoes of the Mogao Grottoes.However,it is not famous for its unique decorative elements in the murals of the Mogao Grottoes.The scope of this study is from the northern and Southern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties,because the political system,economic foundation,cultural connotation,aesthetic concept and national beliefs of the times from the Northern Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty are different,which makes the shape and decoration of Huagai patterns vary greatly in different periods.Understanding the evolution process of Dunhuang Huagai patterns can help us better understand the development of decorative patterns in different periods,help to clarify the differences between the southern and Northern Dynasties to the Tang Dynasty,and help us to fully understand the history of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and the development process of decorative patterns.Firstly,this paper defines the related concepts of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes Huagai from the theoretical level,and sorts out their respective diachronic cultural origins.From the perspective of modeling,this paper makes a comparative study on the decoration of different dynasties’ Huagai,including the concept of modeling,color and structural expression of the pattern of each dynasty’s Huagai.It also involves the decoration changes of the whole decorative elements of Huagai.Huagai has evolved from a simple individual to a complex situation in the later stage.Not only the main decorative elements are changing,but also his decorative units,lotus patterns,geometric patterns,among which the most indispensable background tree decoration have also changed.The study of them can explore the decoration of Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang in different periods and cultures The artistic features formed under the background are of great value.
