| Beadwork was an important type of decoration in ancient China. It has appeared in many sites since the Neolithic Age,with a variety of materials and forms. After the introduction of glass beads into China during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the beadwork decoration was greatly developed. Not only the number of archaeological excavations increased sharply, but also the decorative style became richer. After the continuous development of the Han and Wei Dynasties, the number of unearthed beads in the Sui and Tang Dynasties decreased somewhat, but its aesthetic and craftsmanship still maintained a high level.Through the unearthed beads, scholars can study its material and technology in detail, but it is difficult to study the connection mode, use method, combination characteristics and symbolic meaning of beads. This paper takes the beadwork images in the frescoes of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in the Tang Dynasty as the research object, and selects the representative beadwork patterns that are clearly identifiable and located in the clothing, canopy and caisson for analysis.Using image method in the study of the shape, linking and combination is analyzed, and compared with literature and archaeological materials comparison, combination of beading religious cultural image,to explore the frescoes in the beading pattern and its symbolic meaning and reality, beading USES final beading in Dunhuang murals in tang dynasty, summarized the characteristics of image.Studies suggest that the bead usage in the Dunhuang frescoes of the Tang Dynasty is the product of inheriting the bead usage tradition in India, the birthplace of Buddhism, and combining the local costume characteristics and the influence of the style of the Western Regions. The prevalence of bead decorative patterns and the local variation are subtle, which is based on the local cultural context to explain and absorb the foreign religious worship fashion. The rising aesthetic trend of jewelry decoration in China, such as the neck decoration in the portraits of secular donors, had a reverse effect on the decorative style of Dunhuang frescoes, which led to the development of rich patterns and decorative styles of beadwork patterns, which were later fixed as paradigms for inheritance. |
