| Piet Cornelies Mondrian(1872-1944)was a pioneer and important figure in the school of geometric abstraction, forming the “School of Style ”with Duesberg and others, and advocating his own artistic “neo-formalism” He advocated artistic“neo-formalism” and thus established a theoretical system of neo-formalism,creating a unique form of artistic expression of geometric abstraction. This paper is divided into six parts. The first part(Introduction)mainly elaborates on the background of the study, the current situation of the study, the significance of the study and the innovation points, mainly analyzes the formation of Mondrian’s artistic thought played an important role in the development of modern art,and the value and significance of studying Mondrian’s artistic thought,so as to pave the way for the main text afterwards. The second part(Chapter 1)is to study and analyze the artistic characteristics of Mondrian at different stages of his entire artistic and intellectual development process and the reasons for their production, and to provide a factual basis for the formation of artistic thought. The third part(Chapter 2)is an analysis of the origins of the formation of Mondrian’s artistic thought, firstly dissecting the background of the times in which Mondrian’s artistic thought arose.Next is the artistic trend, and the liberalization of art provides a suitable space for the formation of Mondrian’s artistic thought.Once again, the influence of religious factors is analyzed, focusing on the role of the formation of Mondrian’s artistic thought from both New Calvinism and enthymemeology. Finally, the philosophical origins of Mondrian’s artistic thought are uncovered in three parts: Suenmakers,Plato, and dualism.By looking at the four perspectives of the background, artistic trends, religion and philosophy,we can see that the formation of Mondrian’s artistic thought did not happen overnight, but was in accordance with the law of artistic development, which also provides a theoretical basis for the formation of artistic thought. The fourth part(Chapter 3)mainly analyzes the core of Mondrian’s artistic thought--the theory of neo-formalism,which is the focus and difficulty of this paper. This chapter takes Mondrian’s pursuit of universal beauty as the core of his theory, from which he derives the interpretation of abstract principles such as the relationship of balance, straight lines, three primary colors and rhythm. It is hoped that this will stimulate people to think about abstract painting and theory, and to understand Mondrian’s artistic thought at a deeper level than just the level of art appreciation. The fifth part(Chapter 4)deals with the influence of Mondrian’s artistic thought.Since Mondrian’s artistic ideas are applicable to all artistic disciplines, they are not only significant to the field of painting, but also bring new creative inspirations and ideas to the field of architecture and design, and have a significant influence that can not be ignored and continues to this day.The sixth part(conclusion)answers two questions: first, the value of Mondrian’s artistic thought. This is a summary of the whole text. The“universal beauty” of his new plasticism theory and the resulting changes in the concept of shape and equilibrium have made the abstract art thought more comprehensive, and its influence has had a significant impact on painting and design.Secondly, the significance of Mondrian’s art thought for Chinese contemporary society. The “balanced relationship ”in Mondrian’s art thought has practical significance to the concept of harmony between material and spiritual civilization in human society, and brings new inspiration to create a harmonious society. We hope that through the study of Mondrian’s artistic thought,we can have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Mondrian. |
