Oil painting materials have gone through a long process of development,and play an important role in the artistic language of painting.In the history of Western painting,oil painting,once widely used,dominated,supporting the painting history of the West for nearly a century.The emergence of photography in the mid-19 th century had a tremendous impact on painting.Oil paintings,which had a dominant position in recording and narration,were the first to bear the brunt,and people questioned the necessity of their existence and continuity.At the same time,the word "paintability" was put forward to emphasize the unique existence of painting.The true meaning of oil painting in China has only been settled in a hundred years,and that is the era of the rise of Western modern art.Chinese painters have sorted out the context of oil painting in this hundred years,but the problem of "paintability" has always been ambiguous or avoided.This paper attempts to analyze the important position of painting in oil painting creation and aesthetics through the artistic creation of painter Mondrian and the relevant historical data.
