| Cooperative learning refers to the mutual learning in which students have a clear division of responsibilities in order to complete a common task.This paper analyzes the theory of cooperative group learning to explore whether mixed cooperative group learning can improve high school students’ English performance and relieve anxiety in English reading.For the sake of achieving the aims of investigation,the author employs Instruction Experimentation and Survey by Questionnaire.All research data are extracted from the author’s educational experiment at No.14 Middle School in Hengshui.The author arbitrarily chooses the second grade(24)class as the control class and the second grade(25)class as the experimental class.The author personally leads the English reading teaching according to the centralized teaching system of the control class while conducts cooperative group teaching in the experimental class.Before and after teaching,English questionnaire survey activities and tests were put into effect for the students in the two classes.Based on the questionnaire data and test scores,the author draws the following conclusions: 1.Teaching English reading in senior high school based on mixed group cooperative learning can improve the English reading performance of senior high school students.The specific performance is: increasing the average score of their class,the highest score and the lowest score of the class;reducing variance,narrowing the gap between all levels,reducing the trend of polarization.2.The teaching of English reading in senior high school based on mixed group cooperative learning can effectively reduce the anxiety of English reading in senior high school students.The specific manifestations are as follows: reducing the overall anxiety level of the class,reducing the highest and lowest anxiety scores of the class,reducing the variance of anxiety,narrowing the gap between students at all levels,and generally reducing the anxiety of students at all levels. |
