| Shuxian Xiao was an important polyphonic music expert in modern China.She devoted her life to the creation and teaching of polyphonic music.She introduced European professional polyphonic composition techniques into China and combined Chinese folk songs to create "nationalized" polyphonic music,and wrote such works as "overture","wandering lamp","remembering",etc.,she has translated many western classical music works,such as the form and harmony of Bartok,the outline of counterpoint,the opera Carmen,etc.,she has made an in-depth study of folk music,and has unique insights into the theory of modulation,the termination of folk modes,and the changing techniques of folk melodies,in her more than 30 years of teaching career,she has always applied her polyphonic music creation to her teaching practice.She has trained many excellent students,such as Duan Pingtai,Yang Yong,Wu Shikai,Jiang Kui,Jin Xiang,Yao Shengchang and so on,and has made outstanding contributions to the development of our country’s polyphonic music.Domestic research on her through the CNKI(China Journal full-text database)inquiries,from the existing data,only 10 articles,most of which are nostalgic articles,the content only involves its life experience,music creation,music work,music education idea and so on.The original writing intention is to convey her ambition.The study of her composing techniques in these document literature is not pertinent and thorough enough,so we should pay more attention to her works in music analysis,especially her polyphonic techniques.On the basis of the present research,this paper takes the polyphonic music works of Shuxian Xiao’s as the analysis content,and tries to analyze her 10 polyphonic works,it also summarizes the characteristics of its polyphonic techniques,the thinking rules of its polyphonic writing,and the creation methods and values of its "national" polyphonic music.According to the research of this paper,Shuxian Xiao’s polyphonic structure,the development of tonality and the use of polyphonic techniques are still partial to the western traditional composition thinking.The key point is that she skillfully transforms the folk song material into the theme suitable for the polyphony music writing,and combines the national mode,so that her polyphony works accord with the national music esthetic sense especially.All her works are permeated with her teaching ideas and creative purposes.She believes that only by taking root in the nation can we go to the world.There are many excellent folk songs in China,and if we can use modern writing methods to extract the essence of them,we will be able to shine with great splendor.And the exploration of nationalized polyphonic music is not only the need of the national conditions to revitalize the cultural cause of national music,it is also a realistic demand to solve the problem that students can not apply polyphonic techniques to practice.Her polyphonic music creation is undoubtedly a successful exploration of national polyphonic music practice.She has provided the valuable theory foundation and the practice example for the subsequent polyphony music creation. |
