| The content of this translation project comes from FD Control Device Operation Instructions,which is related to the safety precautions and instruction of robot control device.This text FD Control Device Operation Instructions belongs to a kind of sci-tech and informative text,which is involved in translation at lexical,syntactic and textual levels,as well as in the transformation of sic-tech information.As a result,we need to ensure the accuracy,profession,objectivity and fluency of the translated text.Nida’s Functional Equivalence can be applied to guide the translator to translate in a natural and smooth way and to convey the information as correct as possible.Under the theoretical guidance of Functional Equivalence,the translation canhelp the TL’s readers read and understand the control device operation instructions more easily and then promote the development of the industry robot in China.In the process of translation,difficulties in understanding and problems in expressing will be an inevitable phenomenon due to the fact that the translator is short of erudite knowledge in the area of control device operating.Translational difficulties are mainly manifested in the following three aspects: Lexically,the main difficulties are the translation of technical words,semi-technical words and polysemous words,so as to achieve the accuracy and professionalism of vocabulary translation;Syntactically,it mainly focuses on the transformation of sentences like long and complex sentences,passive sentences and other kinds of sentences,aiming at achieving the conciseness and clarity in process of syntactical sentences;Textually,the main purpose is to sort out the logical relations in the text and accurately show them in the translated text in order to achieve the translational logic,cohesion and coherence in target text.This practice report is divided into four parts.The first part is about the introduction to the translation project,describing the content and importance of the project,and explaining the report structure.The second part is about the explanation totranslation process,which is mainly divided into three stages: pre-translation,while-translation and after-translation,explaining the preparation and works done in the course of translation.The third part is the mainbody of this report indicating the difficulties encountered in translation and the corresponding solutions to these difficulties,including transposition,combination,reconstruction,conversion,division,amplification and replacement.In this part,the author takes FD Control Device Operation Instructions as case study to explain difficulties and to find out the solutions to these difficulties from the perspective of Nida’s Functional Equivalence.The last part is a summary to the report,involving withthe limitations and settlement to the problems. |
