Study On Shulin’s Thought

Shu Lin was born in the sixth year of Shaoxing,Gaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty.When he was a child,he was greatly influenced by the learning atmosphere his family and learned from Cheng’s Neo Confucianism as he grew up.During the period of learning in imperial college,thanks to the earnest teaching of his teachers and friends,he was able to clean up his desire and follow his heart.By learning mind philosophy of Xiangshan School,he,together with Yang Jian,Yuan Xie and Shen Huan,was finally called "Four Mr.Yongshang ".Viewing "Shu Wenjing Collection",it can be found that the most distinctive feature of Shu Lin’s thought lies in plainness,Shu Lin uses Xiangshan’s original heart to talk about the various schools,and is unique in the style of plainness,He practices plain in practical,daily and everywhere places,attaching great importance to moral practice and emphasizing that moral consciousness should be put into practice in the study of things so as to fully realize people’s morality.In terms of methods,Shu Lin generally followed Lu Jiuyuan’s learning line,and advocated that after realizing the original mind,he should follow the good of the mind and resort to practice to guide people’s daily life and social practice.From a theoretical point of view,Shu Lin’s school,inherited and created Lu Jiuyuan’s studies,but Shu Lin did not specialize in one family,nor did he blindly follow Lu’s studies,He not only treated Zhu Lu’s studies didactically,but also actively and constructively reconciled them.In short,Shu Lin emphasized the need to explore the origin and understand the original mind.However,when Shu Lin discussed the mind as the original principle,he emphasized that the mind is the fundamental starting point of a person’s ethical and moral cultivation,instead of discussing too much.As the mind in the ontological sense of philosophy,it advocates to realize the realization of the original mind through gradual effort,but does not reject the method of enlightenment,and finally achieves the state of harmony of respect and happiness.This article mainly combs and verifies Shu Lin’s family and family studies and his life writings,closely focuses on several issues of Shu Lin’s thoughts,and combines his extensive study experience and local political practice to comprehensively analyze Shu Lin’s thoughts.Through excavating the spiritual value of Shu Lin’s thought,it can further explore Shu Lin’s promotion and new development of Nero-Confucianism.
